A new love has been added to the family: Acer OKR140 dual-mode mechanical keypad

Unexpectedly, what made me miss the office was actually just a particularly handy keyboard.

Due to the epidemic, I worked from home some time ago, and I was tortured by the limp laptop keyboard every day. I really missed the large keyboard in the office that felt particularly comfortable. Sometimes the document needs minor revisions, and I am too lazy to open the notebook, so I use the tablet to deal with it, and the feeling of touching the keyboard is even more difficult.

Therefore, I feel that I must start with a keyboard that feels good and does not take up space for occasional use at home.

To summarize my needs:

First of all, there must be multi-mode connection and switching, which is convenient for notebooks, tablets, and mobile phones to share.

Secondly, it can't be too big, the desk space at home is not plentiful, and the usual storage can't take up too much space.

Of course, the feel must be good, which is the initial motivation for buying an external keyboard.

I did a lot of homework. I don't like the cheap ones of more than ten yuan, and I guess the feel is not as good as my notebook. From tens of yuan to one or two hundred, I went through the audition, and it seems that there are many products to choose from, but after careful study, I found a big problem:

Most portable keyboards lack the Insert key.

Ordinary users may not be able to use this key at all, but for users who are inseparable from Linux terminals such as putty and xshell every day, half of the Insert key will be useless without this Insert key. Many convenient keyboard shortcuts can only be completed with the mouse. That would be too uncomfortable.

After discovering this problem, the choice range is much smaller. The standard 87-key or 108-key is naturally no problem, but the disadvantage is that the size is relatively large. Among the small-sized keyboards, it seems that only the Acer OKR140 fully meets my requirements.

68-key small size, 2.4G+Bluetooth dual-mode, no lack of keys, and it is still a mechanical switch. The price of 618 is less than 100 yuan. What else can you choose, this is it.

The first impression I get is that it is small and cute, and I can't help but hold it in my hand and play with it. The main body is black and gray that is resistant to dirt, and a few red buttons are embellished just right, which adds a lot of spirituality to it. The keyboard looks very lively, not dull at all.

Although it is small in size, it is not considered portable. Its thickness and weight determine that it is not suitable for frequent outings, but it is still very convenient to take and move at home.

Due to the small size, there is no place to install the indicator light on the frame, so the 2.4G/Bluetooth connection indicator light is hidden under the corresponding button. Although it is an expedient measure, it does not affect the use at all.

The bottom has battery compartment, USB adapter storage compartment and a toggle power switch.

The USB storage compartment and the toggle physical switch are highly praised. The former can effectively prevent the embarrassment of losing the USB adapter, and the toggle physical switch is even more indispensable. For the power of 2 AA dry batteries, it can effectively avoid Standby for a long time will cause the battery to run out.

Although there are only 68 keys, none of the frequently used PgUp, PgDn, Ins, and Del keys are missing, and the key positions are basically the same as those of a notebook keyboard. Although the Ins key needs to be pressed at the same time as the Fn key to be triggered, and although the commonly used " ` " character in Linux has been moved from the upper left corner to the upper right corner, at least it still exists, and it just takes a little getting used to. It is precisely because of the existence of these keys that it deserves to be called productivity rather than iQiyi.

I chose the red axis version, so that typing is easy and does not disturb the people. If you have higher requirements for the mechanical feeling of clicking and clicking, and you don’t care much about the sound of tapping, there are also green switches, tea switches and black switches to choose from.

Pull out the keycaps, and the satellite switches that should be on several large keys are not absent. The feel of the largest space bar is not much different from that of other keys.

Surprisingly, I found that the black keycaps use a two-color injection molding process, and the surface characters (only the main functions) will not be worn off, but the characters on the red keys are printed. The auxiliary function characters on the black keycaps, including multimedia functions and F1~F12 functions, are also printed, which seems to indicate that the keycaps are not tailor-made for this keyboard, and other characters can be used without printing or printing other characters. Product supporting.

Another advantage brought by the two-color injection molding process is that the keycaps can actually transmit light. Users who are interested in DIY can solder some LED lights under the keys to achieve the backlight effect, but those auxiliary functions need to be triggered by pressing the Fn key. There is no way to light it up.

Summarize

Small and beautiful, complete with buttons, mechanical feel, dual-mode take-all, international brand, less than 100 yuan, as a spare keyboard for occasional use, the price/performance ratio is simply invincible.

It is not full-sized and powered by AAA batteries. These two points make it only suitable for use as a spare keyboard, not the main keyboard for daily office codes.

In short, whether it is good or not depends on the usage occasion. For me, this little guy is very satisfying.
