Exclusive review of cost-effective products Part 1: Magic Gold MG98 at 299 yuan, let’s discuss whether it can be regarded as a Gasket structure?

As the first article in this series, I first declare the meaning of this series:

This series only selects cost-effective products that have not been evaluated on the entire network. The next best thing can be products with video evaluations but no graphic evaluations.

Other products that someone has written a graphic review will not appear in this series, and the selection criteria are only for good value for money, and there will be no high-end products. After all-I am poor.

At present, there are 3 selections in this series, that is, the first three phases have been confirmed, and they are all mechanical keyboards. Please look forward to other products in the future.

Next comes the first issue of this series, Magic Gold MG98, which has received a lot of attention in the past few days.

The selling point is here, 299 yuan and the price, needless to say. Gasket, three-mode, 98 array, hot-swappable, RGB, two-color PBT ball cap, Jiadalong g yellow pro shaft body, the key is that it is in stock, and it seems that it can wrestle with VGN V98pro.

However, some friends soon discovered that this keyboard is actually Hangshi’s G98.

This magic gold MG98 has no reviews on the whole network (nor does Hangshi G98), so good, I will do the first review on the whole network.

Hangshi didn't even design a separate outer packaging for this brand. G98 is clearly written on the box, which is the product model of Hangshi.

There is also the BOW brand logo on the side of the package

It's more obvious on the back.

The entire keyboard adopts a dark color, and the 98 configuration looks very compact on the desktop.

In order to avoid patents, a screenshot button is added behind the F area. However, the lower right corner of the main keypad does not use the conventional button design, but only an enlarged Fn and Ctrl are left.

The overall appearance and color matching are good, and the yellow closed characters match the overall style very well, but I can only give 59 points for this keycap, and I will give the answer later.

The overall design is basically a male model, but the bottom shell has a recycled design, which enriches the lines on the side and bottom.

Moreover, the workmanship of the entire shell of this keyboard is still good, there is no obvious parting line, and the connection between the upper and lower covers is basically seamless, and the overall workmanship level is good.

The keyboard switch is placed at the bottom...a very unreasonable design, and there is no mode switching switch, which needs to be set through a combination of buttons...the experience is very general.

The brightness of the backlight is at a normal level, because it is a dark keycap, so it actually looks a little darker.

The minimum interval between keys is 1ms, so the return rate of this keyboard is 1000Hz, so you can rest assured.

Put aside the user experience first, and zoom in first.

Why do you think I have to remove so many keycaps from a Gasket structure keyboard?

Because it has tons of screws to hold it in place! ! !

First of all, it has some basic Gasket necessary structures. The protruding part of the bottom shell is covered with a silicone sleeve for cushioning, and a lot of silicone strips are stuffed on the inner side of the upper cover, so as to realize the connection between the upper and lower covers and the positioning plate. Cushioning.

Heap, the positioning plate of G98 is metal, not PC.

Notice that, like the hull keyboard, there are a total of 7 studs densely covered at the bottom of the G98. Is this... a Gasket structure?

Of course, there is a silicone sleeve on the stud for cushioning. In fact, this structure is a bit similar to the Lite Gasket of Xiaodu, and it is also similar to the Royal Axe Y series (there is no silicone sleeve on the stud of the Royal Axe), but Xiaodu The structure of the worm is written on the product page, which clearly tells you what structure I actually have. Yufu never advertises that his y series is Gasket, and Mojin directly says that he is Gasket.

To be honest, this is the combination of Gasket+improved hull design. It can play a certain cushioning effect, and the sound has also improved to a certain extent, but it is not a Gasket in our conventional sense.

The sandwich cotton is made of ordinary white EVA material, and the bottom cotton, as you have seen just now, is black ordinary foam.

Jiadalong G yellow pro is an old-generation 1-axis goalkeeper. The weight of 50g is a little bit heavier than the regular red axis. It has good smoothness and rebounds easily.

The figure below illustrates two problems

① This keyboard is equipped with a white under-axis pad.

②There is too much oil on the satellite shaft.

This amount of oil is more than that on Ganss, and Ganss's big keys will not stick to obviously affect the rebound, but Magic Gold will. There is indeed no noise in the large keys, but except for the space, the fleshy feeling of almost all the large keys is very obvious.

The solution is very simple, just take it down and wipe off a part... Then I found that the basic quality of the satellite shaft is still good.

The next problem is that the chrysanthemums of multiple buttons have cracks. This problem is mainly concentrated on the black buttons, and the gray buttons are basically fine. The keycaps of these cracks are not so loose that they can be easily taken off, and the actual use has little effect.

But I still have to mention the problems mentioned above. The two buttons on the right, Fn and Ctrl, are enlarged, larger than the regular 104 keys, and as long as the tab key. This will cause a problem. When you change other keycaps, the two buttons are not really compatible.

The price of this keyboard after using the coupon is 299 yuan. The functions and overall configuration including the shaft body are good, but to put it mildly, this "concession" Gasket structure will make users feel very awkward.

After I disassembled it, I didn't install any more screws, and just relied on the upper and lower covers to fix it. The actual structure of the keyboard is still very stable. I don't know why Hangshi added studs for support. Or simply explain the structure to everyone. After all, the structure of this keyboard still has certain characteristics. It is more careful to add a silicone sleeve to the studs. The cost is even higher than the basic Gasket structure. The actual typing sound is in the metal. The positioning board keyboard is also relatively good-sounding, and as mentioned above, the workmanship level of this keyboard is good.

The keycaps are worthy of entanglement. They look good and feel good to use, but there are a few buttons with incomplete chrysanthemums, and changing the keycaps is not easy to match...

The price of 299, if you take it out and use it, I think this keyboard is worth recommending. The feel, sound, and functions are all good, but when I dismantle it and know too much, I always feel a little awkward.

Looking back at the product page, it seems that Hangshi wants to explain its structure and users clearly, but has not fully explained it. On the basis of the traditional Gasket, the positioning board relies on high-performance support and rebound materials to suspend inside the keyboard. This refers to the studs. The silicone on it, but from the picture and the text, if you don’t really see this keyboard, do you think it is different from ordinary Gasket?
