I can say that I have never heard of the brand Moca before, but after 618, when I was browsing the forum, I saw this name by chance, and I also heard that he released a new 299 yuan 98 matching Gasket structure keyboard this year. I was curious about what Gasket can do at this price, so I went to Tmall to buy one, because it was already 618 when I placed the order, so the price has risen a bit, and it is about 312 yuan if 88VIP offers 50% off.
I bought the cable + linear (cherry powder) axis version, and if it is a three-mode version, it will cost another 100 yuan.
The appearance is very simple, a single-layer box. The inside is a plastic partition. Keyboards with this design are really rare in recent years. Speaking of which, similar designs can be traced back to the Iron Shura Duranduo sword I bought in 2011.
All accessories, manual, dust cover, spiral braided cable, 3 keycaps, 5 replacement shafts, and an integrated shaft and key puller. The keycaps on the base version are all white.
The closed characters look okay. I don’t know who made this cherry pink switch. The pink switch, transparent top cover, blue bottom shell, and the satellite switch are also blue and white, which is pretty good-looking.
The original height of the two-color keycap, the side wall is relatively thin, the edge angle is relatively sharp, the characters are slightly protruding, and the spout treatment is okay. This set of keycaps is still qualified at this price point.
There are patch lights, sound-proof silicone pads, and sound-proof cotton at the bottom. The necessary PC positioning board for soft Gasket is also arranged.
The one on the back is a bit like the CMK series keyboard, but the milk gray part is actually plastic.
The craftsmanship of the shell is average, but the texture is not particularly cheap. It is basically a male model design, with many small flaws, but I will show you, I don’t care much about these.
The moment I got the ae98, I felt that this keyboard is really light, because there is no metal positioning plate, so as a 98 keyboard, its weight is 869g.
For comparison, the weight of the compact 67-key Amilo Eucalyptus is 826g. Don't look at the big difference in arrangement, but the weight is about the same.
For cost and pricing reasons, the shell texture of ae98 is indeed relatively ordinary, but there are no detailed workmanship problems, and there is no creaking sound when pressing down on various positions.
Moka deliberately made a gap in the upper right corner of the keyboard, and an acrylic sheet is embedded in it, which can blend the lights very well, and this acrylic sheet can be easily pushed out and taken down. I don’t know if Moka will launch customized products in the future. Serve.
The keycap characters are opaque, and the RGB lights are exposed from the gaps in the keycaps. It looks fresh and pleasant.
The keycaps are neat, and no individual keycaps are crooked. There is a transition in the corners of the upper cover, which feels smooth. This design is quite good.
In addition to the sound insulation pad, there is a thin layer of silicone under the shaft on the PCB under the switch body. The left and right sides of the space are also filled with sound insulation silicone. There are manifestations.
Let me tell you that the cherry powder switch is too loose. It is really difficult not to take the switch out when pulling out the keycap. I thought it was because the opening of the positioning plate was too loose to get stuck. As a result, I replaced it with the TTC gold powder switch. That's the problem.
According to statistics, the probability of ae98 pulling out the key is as high as 80%...
Let’s talk about this cherry powder switch. First of all, it is worth affirming that the smoothness is good, and the stability of the axis is also good, but it feels very dull. I once suspected that it was due to the structure of the keyboard, especially the underpad of the silicone switch that was a bit redundant. After replacing the switch with gold powder, the sound and touch were much better.
So I disassembled the cherry powder shaft, and I didn't see much traces of moistening the shaft. Some masters said that the dry film may be lubricated.
To sum up, if you want to use it well, it is recommended to replace this shaft.
The advertised trigger pressure is 50g, and it doesn’t feel harder than the traditional red switch when you press it. Press it against the BOX red, and the trigger feeling is similar, but the cherry powder goes to the bottom first, which means that the bottoming pressure is a little smaller than the BOX red.
To sum up, there is no doubt about the appearance of this shaft, but the feel of using it is at least not very in line with my preferences.
As for the big keys, they should all have been polished. There is a slight noise in the space, and some of the big keys are relatively fleshy. In this era when everyone's big keys have been greatly improved, it is obviously not good. The wired version with a price of 300 yuan is acceptable at this level. If the wireless version with a price of more than 400 is also like this, it is at the middle and lower level at the same price.
Next, I am going to change the general thunder and lightning theme keycaps I bought in a certain treasure store.
I won't say how painful the process of changing the keycap is, it's basically the same as changing the keycap + changing the shaft. This is the final product.
Even if this set of PBT keycaps is made by a small shop, the surface is relatively smooth without a matte feel. As for the pattern, it is completely incomparable with top-themed keycaps like Amilo, and the joint name with Akko is also quite different. I am a pseudo-true love party of Shadow, so the feeling now is... well, it took so much effort to change it. , let's use it for now...
Speaking of it, there are patterns and IP, oh, there should be no copyright, but the effect of the whole build is relatively messy, and it is not harmonious.
However, with a large number of five-sided sublimation keycaps and this effect, there is basically no blooming, which I think is still possible. But this look... I think most of the patterns are from the general doll, not the shadow.
Another feeling is that after installing this set of keycaps, the keyboard seems to be more fleshy than when using the original keycaps.
At the price of 299 yuan, Moca ae98 has a gasket structure, and it also stacks classic customized configurations such as double-layer sound insulation pads and even under-shaft pads, plus a certain recognizable acrylic logo in the upper right corner. At a limited price, Moca shows enough sincerity. However, limited by the cost, it does not show the workmanship, feel and texture that exceed the price, especially the inner cavity of the keyboard does not seem to be completely filled. When you tap the bottom, it feels that there is still a lot of unfilled space inside. Due to the material and mold, a little cavity sound can still be heard when using the original keycap.
The smoothness of the original shaft body is good, but the sensuality is more obvious. Although the pad under the shaft plays a role in silencing, the hand feeling is negatively optimized. If you are not pursuing silence, it is recommended to remove it.
From the perspective of getting started, the wired version of ae98 is quite competitive at this price, while the advantage of the wireless version is obviously not obvious, but from the perspective of experiencing the feel of the PC positioning version of the gasket or preparing for subsequent shaft changes, And if you further toss the internal structure, ae98 is still a good choice.
In addition, Monka actually sells the ae98 wireless kit, and the event price should be within 300. Considering that the original switch body and keycaps are very ordinary, I suggest friends who have wireless needs to buy the kit directly.
