Its appearance can be said to be at the forefront of the list of mechanical keyboard appearances in 2022. Product design and mass production are very challenging. It is from Luofei. Speaking of Luofei, we must mention their iconic products. As a design-oriented brand, its appearance has conquered many young groups. There are many boys and girls in our office who like Luofei’s keyboard and mouse very much. When some male colleagues bought it, they said they would give it to their girlfriend or wife, but after buying it, they used it for themselves. I have also used Luofei’s Xiaoqiao and Xiaolang before. Xiaoqiao’s blind box keycaps are very creative. Xiaolang’s packaging box and keyboard are very delicate in appearance and full of sense of design.

Last year, I saw on ins that many designers have designed the concept design of transparent keyboards. The appearance is very high, which is very in line with my personal aesthetics. At that time, it was not very popular in China, and I always wanted to have a transparent mechanical keyboard. It wasn't until Luofei launched the 1% transparent keyboard that I really saw hope.

In terms of technology, the use of transparent materials is still a great challenge in production. The large-area application of transparent materials has very high requirements for appearance, and the design of structure and circuit board is also very particular. Because the chrysanthemum structure inside the keycap is relatively complex, the mold design and injection molding process are particularly demanding during the injection molding process, and mass production is still very risky (as shown in the figure below).

Just like the transparent shell mobile phone launched by a certain brand before, in order to highlight the sense of high-end technology, it can only be perfunctory with stickers on the back of the transparent shell. In order to avoid defects in appearance, many keyboard manufacturers use another color to cover the top from the top, which is the common pudding keycap.

So far, Luofei has launched a total of three transparent keyboards, two fully transparent and one frosted translucent. What I want to share today is Luofei's latest frosted translucent mechanical keyboard.

In fact, transparency and haze are two-dimensional concepts, and there is no direct relationship between transparency and haze (for your convenience, I will describe the two concepts in my own words):

Transparency: It is basically the light transmittance that is often said. It can be understood as the light transmission ability of semi-transparent or transparent materials. The stronger the light transmission ability, the higher the transparency of the material.

Haze: Haze is generally caused by some folds on the surface or inside of the material. The most intuitive manifestation is that when we pass through a material, we cannot see the object on the opposite side of the material, and it also reflects the light in this material from another angle. The degree of diffusion in the medium, the higher the haze, the stronger the diffusion ability, which can make us see the light but not the light.

The most common cases are ceiling lamps and table lamps used at home. In order to avoid directly seeing the glare of the LED lamp beads, acrylic material with high transparency but high haze is used, so as to ensure the uniformity of the entire luminous surface. This time, Luofei Mist uses frosted surface treatment. On the one hand, it makes the appearance more beautiful. On the other hand, the fog can be higher, so that the light effect of the LED is more uniform. It can kill two birds with one stone. It can be said that it is a very successful product in design.

The packaging uses a drawer-style packaging method with a simple design. Because it is a fog version, the overall gray color scheme, the translucent frosted hollow structure on the front, and the handle on the side make it easy to take out.

Inside the package are the keyboard and accessories package, and the keyboard cable is used with great care. The gray braided wire is used, the shell at the connector is made of metal, and the Type-C end is still decorated with very delicate textures, and the craftsmanship is impeccable. In addition, spring protection is added, and the details used are also very considerate. Then comes the manual, warranty card and so on.

The appearance design is the biggest highlight of this keyboard. The shape is consistent with 1%, but some changes have been made in the color matching and surface treatment, so that the overall tonality style is completely different, as if it is a new keyboard. Same.

The shape is sleek and compact, and the 68-key layout can make the size of the keyboard smaller without affecting the user experience. At the same time, it does not take up space on the desktop. It is a beautiful scenery on the desktop.

The overall use is made of transparent plastic material, and the surface is unified with a matte frosting effect (realized by super-fine biting directly on the mold), forming a faint effect, especially after turning on the light, unlike the fully transparent version Like the traditional keyboard, you can directly see the light beads inside the keyboard. Whether it is from the touch or the vision, there is a very comfortable feeling.

A silver high-gloss metal nameplate is used in front of the keyboard, and it is fixed with two screws, which has a retro and exquisite sense of craftsman spirit.

There are three indicator lights in the upper right corner of the keyboard, which are the battery, caps lock key, and Bluetooth indicator. There is a TOGGLE label next to it, indicating that the lighting effect can be switched through Fn+backspace in the upper right corner.

The TYPE-C interface is located on the right front of the keyboard. The overall shape of the keyboard is designed with an inclination angle. At the same time, there are feet at the bottom to adjust the angle of the keyboard, which is more suitable for the user's usage habits. There is soft rubber on the bottom of the feet to increase the friction between the keyboard and the desktop.

The silk screen characters on the fuselage and keycaps also add to the exquisiteness of the fuselage.

The top of the keycap uses a micro-arc design, the feel is similar to the ball cap design of SA, and the feel is still very good. The structural design of the keycap is indeed very powerful. In order to avoid the shrinkage and stress marks caused by the chrysanthemum of the keycap, the appearance is not good. , The hollow keycap is used in the structural design, and the keycap is divided into two parts. When the two parts are assembled together, a hollow keycap can be realized from the appearance. As shown in the figure below, the two pieces are assembled together, and the assembly is very precise. If you don't look carefully, you really think it is a hollow keycap. The characters on the keycaps are all made of silk screen printing. The current silk screen printing process generally uses high-temperature baking or UV transfer to cure, and it is not easy to fall off after long-term use, resulting in color fading. Under a magnifying glass, the edges of the characters are clear, and the printing process is well controlled.

1% fog, for better light transmission effect, a transparent jellyfish shaft is used. This keyboard supports hot swapping at the same time, and you can replace the axis body according to your own needs, whether it is a paragraph axis or a linear axis. As shown in the picture below, I replaced the recently acquired DNDKB Jingwei axis.

The opaque switch body, from the perspective of the frosted keycap, still affects the appearance to some extent. If there is no special switch body requirement, the appearance of the jellyfish switch and the mist version are the best.

This keyboard supports both mac and win systems, which can be switched through the switch at the bottom of the keyboard, and the printed characters on the keycaps have also been adapted in the same way, which is very friendly to users of dual systems.

It supports wired and wireless dual-mode, and the wireless connection uses Bluetooth 5.1 connection, which is fast and supports the connection of 3 devices at the same time, and can be switched through the Fn+Q/W/E key in the small right corner.

The keyboard has a built-in 2000mAh battery, and it can be used for about 100 hours without turning on the backlight. According to my daily use, it can basically last for about 2 weeks. The maximum backlight use is about 2-3 days and it needs to be charged once.

This keyboard is only available in a white light version, with 7 light effects by default at the factory, which can be switched through Fn+Backspace in the upper right corner, long press Fn+Backspace for 2 seconds to turn on and off the light. The brightness of the light can also be adjusted. The animation effect of the light is very smooth and there is no sense of stuttering.

This keyboard has two Fn keys, which have different functions. The upper right corner mainly controls lighting, Bluetooth pairing and F1-F12 function keys, and the Fn key in the lower right corner mainly controls multimedia keys.

This 1% fog keyboard is definitely the masterpiece of the year in 2022, and it can be said that its appearance is against the sky. Small size, 68-key layout, independent arrow keys, matte surface treatment, first-class feel, fully sufficient for daily office work. The jellyfish shaft that comes out of the factory feels very good. In addition, it supports hot-swappable shafts, which can be replaced as you like.
