In the middle of the year, James Donkey, who had been silent for a while, released a number of new products in succession. A few days ago, I shared with you the retro-style RS2, three-mode connection, original gray, new structure of Gasket Pro, large alloy knob, which is remarkable. Today I will share with you another three-mode mechanical keyboard: RS6. The biggest feature of this keyboard is the shell made of translucent material. It is divided into two types: Guiqi and Luminous.
I don't know what happened, but a few months ago, transparent mechanical keyboards became popular, and major manufacturers followed suit. In fact, transparent keyboards are nothing new. At the time when Internet cafes were very popular, in order to attract customers, every family engaged in light pollution, hosts filled with optical fans, flashing gaming headsets, and keyboards with killer lighting effects. Rich and colorful, rough workmanship, giving people a very cheap feeling. Over the years, game and tabletop players have gradually increased their budgets on peripherals, and manufacturers are willing to work hard on peripheral design, hardware and software, materials, and workmanship, increase investment, and improve quality. Therefore, today's transparent , The translucent keyboard looks much more refined. Well, let me briefly share with you this translucent three-mode mechanical keyboard.
On the front of the RS6 package is the outline of the keyboard and the product model, and on the back is an introduction to product features. The "soldier" marked on the lower left corner of the package, together with the red keyboard, reminds me of the Sith Stormtrooper in "Star Wars 9" and the pink soldier in "X Fish Game", which was very popular some time ago.
Product family portrait, including RS6 mechanical keyboard, dust cover, TPE spring data cable, steel wire key puller and product manual.
Separation of key wires is very common, and standard spring wires are really uncommon, and are generally used in customized keyboards. At present, there are also finished spring wires for sale on the market. The cheap ones cost thirty or forty. With an aviation plug, they cost at least fifty or sixty. The RS6 is equipped with the same red spring cable as the keyboard, USB-A to Type-C interface, and the black magic tie is slightly inconsistent. It should look better if it is replaced with red.
RS6 adopts the layout of 96 keys + volume knob, the upper cover and the bottom shell are made of red translucent material, the surface has a matte texture, the frame width is medium, and the four corners are chamfered.
The keyboard shell is red, and the keycaps are composed of three colors: deep red, carmine red, and light pink. The same color system is both coordinated and different, a bit like lipstick.
The main key and part of the F area are light pink, the carriage return, back, space, direction keys, and knob are dark red, and other keys are carmine red.
There is a small window on the left border of the front row, where you can see the current connection mode icon.
Generally speaking, the four buttons in the upper right corner of the 98-key are Del, Ins, PgUp, and PgOn, while the RS6 omits the latter two buttons, changing the Ins key that is not commonly used by ordinary people to the PrtSc key.
The volume knob in the upper right corner, turn left to lower the volume, turn right to increase the volume, press down to set to mute, play, pause and other operations.
There are two switches on the left side, the top is the 2.4G, wired, Bluetooth three mode switching switch, and the bottom is the Windows, Mac system mode switching switch.
The Type-C data cable interface is in the middle, because the spring wire is used, and the wire is relatively neat. I personally think that the reserved length of the Type-C interface can be shortened, so that it can be more suitable for laptops and other devices.
The bottom of the keyboard is also made of translucent material, and the PCB board can be clearly seen. A total of 6 non-slip mats are pasted on the bottom edge, and a red metal plate is equipped in the middle. The keyboard has a built-in 5000 mAh battery, which lasts for 4-6 weeks and takes about 6.5 hours to fully charge (1.5A).
The keyboard bracket adopts a two-stage structure, the size of the bracket is designed, and the bottom of the bracket is anti-skid. A 2.4G receiver storage compartment is reserved under the left bracket.
My RS6 uses Jiadalong G Pro red switch, linear switch body, straight up and down, no sense of paragraph, transparent top cover, self-lubricating at the factory, soft to the touch, and not loud. The shaft seat adopts a hot-swappable design, compatible with 3-pin and 5-pin shafts. You can see that the shaft body is reversed, and the SMD lamp beads are at the bottom. Users can see the light from the front.
The long keys of the keyboard are designed with satellite shafts, which is convenient for daily removal and insertion of keycaps. The keyboard is equipped with EVA sound-absorbing cotton between the positioning board and the PCB board, and the red switch is added. Although it is matched with a hard PBT keycap, the mute effect is not bad, and it is slightly inferior to RS2.
The keycap is made of PBT material, two-color injection molding, the thickness of the key wall is moderate, and the nozzle treatment is general.
After downloading the driver from the official website, first open the "Mahu RS6 Three-mode WAP V300 (ID656) Upgrade Tool" to upgrade the firmware, and then install the driver software. The driver is divided into main settings, lighting settings, macro editing, program sharing, personal center, and support. In the main settings, you can set the keys, such as changing keys, multimedia function settings, and graphically edit the FN combination keys.
Lighting settings, the keyboard has 21 built-in lighting effects, and you can also customize the lighting effects. There are 16.8 million colors to choose from, and the lighting speed and brightness can be adjusted. In addition, there is a sleep setting, in 2.4G and Bluetooth mode, choose the time to turn off the lights and go to sleep.
Because of the translucent shell, some lights can also be seen from the keyboard frame.
Since the switch body is inverted, and the keycap and frame are basically flat, some lights can be seen from the front or sides.
Since the keycaps are opaque, this light mainly acts as an ambient light, overflowing from around the keycaps.
This is a GIF picture of the lighting effect that goes with the flow. When the indoor light is not strong, the brightness is quite sufficient. If you think the RGB lighting is a bit fancy, it is recommended to switch to white lighting directly through the FN+PrtSc key, and you will find it very attractive.
PassMark KeyboardTest software test, RS6 in wired, 2.4G mode, supports full-key without punching.
After playing CSGO for a few days, the Jiadalong G Pro red switch is self-lubricating at the factory, and the feel is quite good. It is soft and easy to follow, and the big keys are OK, not too fleshy. In the game, operations such as walking and jumping boxes are quite comfortable, and you can get started without getting used to it. Personally, I think that linear switches are more comfortable for playing FPS shooting games. If you usually only play games and don’t know how to code, you can also try linear switches with short key strokes, such as silver switches.
James Donkey RS6 is strange, the color is a bit like lipstick, it adopts the layout design of 96 keys + 1 knob, simplifies the buttons that are not commonly used in Jiugongge, shortens the size, and retains most of the functions of 104 keys. The addition of the volume knob makes it more convenient to follow the drama. You can set the play, pause, next episode, and adjust the volume or mute. With a transparent shell and an inverted switch body, you can see the backlight effect when sitting in front of the keyboard. Although it is equipped with 21 kinds of lighting effects and RGB lighting, I still love the constant white light, which I will never tire of seeing. Wired, 2.4G, Bluetooth three-mode, can be adapted to desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile phones, hosts and other devices, the addition of spring wires makes wiring more convenient. Finally, summarize the characteristics of RS6, and put forward some suggestions for your reference.
