Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro

The Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro might not be the thinnest ultra-thin gaming keyboard on the market. That honor probably still belongs to the Logitech G915 Lightspeed, whose handsome brushed metal table and thin keys together keep it under 25mm (Razer's entry is 26.5mm at its thickest). However, it manages to be the lightest in the optical beam, weighing in at 776.5 grams for travel.

The gaming keyboard is built to last despite its thin and light profile, with a 5052 aluminum alloy top plate, premium plastic bottom plate and detachable braided fiber optic Type-C cable, and ultra-durable coated ABS keycaps. It promises a 70 million keystroke life rating, which is a lifetime for most users. And, it looks good too, thanks to Razer's customizable chroma RGB, which we found to be vivid enough even in brighter lighting conditions.

One of the things we like most about the design of the Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro is the set of three quick switch buttons located on the front. The keyboard boasts three connection modes – 2.4GHz SuperSpeed Wireless, Bluetooth and USB-C. In Bluetooth mode, it can connect to three different devices at the same time, and the three buttons let you easily switch from one device to another, which is pretty nifty.

Optical switches tend to have more resistance than mechanical switches, which does put some people off. The Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro is very similar to the Logitech G915 (although we do think Logitech has done a better job), so it still caters to the needs of a mechanically switched fan, not as bouncy as the linear Vulcan Pro. So it provides a satisfying and comfortable typing experience, whether you're gaming or typing a work document.

Its linear optical switches are indeed "ultra-fast" and "ultra-reliable", not to mention extremely quiet. What we like the most is that despite the key travel of 2.8mm (which is very short, but the G915 is 0.1mm shorter - not important for most users), it has 1.2mm of actuation distance and 45g of actuation. power.

Battery life is good, on par with the G915. Razer gave it a 40-hour rating, but only if you set the RGB lighting to 50 percent. Increase its brightness to 100% and you'll get about 24 hours of use, which translates to 8 hours of gaming/typing sessions over 3 days.

That's still not bad. However, if you forget to charge it regularly, or just despise having to, then you should probably reduce the RGB brightness to 50%.

The media buttons and scroll wheel are also great, but you need to go into the Razer Synapse 3 app to change their settings. By default, the button is only set to play and pause when the scroll wheel controls volume (press it to mute).

One thing the Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro has that makes it a better choice for many gamers than the G915 is its fully programmable keys. While the G915 only has five G-keys that you can reassign or program with macros, every key in the DeathStalker V2 Pro has that function, making it a more versatile choice. It also has a mix of onboard memory and cloud storage, so you can take those macros and RGB lighting profiles with you.
