Today I would like to share with you a small toy. The KT15 produced by Darmoshark is a small finished CNC aluminum alloy keyboard with a total of 15 buttons and a multi-function knob. It supports three connection modes: wired/Bluetooth/2.4G wireless. A variety of custom functions can be realized through the driver, not only a good-looking table, but also a good productivity assistant.
In Darmoshark's product series, the KT series are all aluminum lumps of CNC, and the number 15 represents the number of keys. The name "Twelve Hours" is written on the side of the outer package, and it is easy to remind people of the hit drama "Chang'an Twelve Hours" two years ago.
There are quite a lot of accessories, including TYPE-C to USB adapter, data cable, shaft puller, key puller, shaft replacement instructions and instructions.
The adapter and data cable can be combined into a USB extension cable, and the 2.4G wireless receiver can use this extension cable as close as possible to the keyboard to obtain the most stable wireless transmission performance.
The entire body of the K15 is made of aluminum alloy, CNC integrally formed, and anodized for coloring. The overall appearance is gun gray, with a good texture. The layout is actually very simple, with six buttons in each row, and the default functions are F1-F12. There is a 6.25U space directly below, the upper right corner is the multimedia knob, and the two lower right corners are the backspace key and the FN key.
You ask why the 6.25U space is the same length as the six 1U keys above? Because the spacing between the small keys is deliberately increased, after all, the 6.25U space is the most common, which is convenient for everyone to replace later.
KT15 is called "Twelve Hours" because of this set of keycaps. The 12 keycaps are printed with twelve Chinese characters of the twelve zodiac patterns and the earthly branches; There are four Chinese characters for "Twelve Hours"; the two yin and yang on the right correspond to the Tai Chi pattern, which are Shark Demon and Demon Slayer respectively.
This set of keycaps is manufactured by Fingertip Culture and Creation. Each keycap is made of five-sided sublimation technology. The pattern is distinct, the color is bright, and the overall quality is very high.
The edges and corners of the keyboard have been smoothly transitioned and chamfered, so they won't hurt your hands.
The three-stage switch is located at the left front end, which can quickly switch among the three modes of Bluetooth, USB and 2.4G wireless.
There are regular anti-slip patterns on the outside of the metal knob, and a translucent cross pattern in the middle of the knob.
Kaihua's luminous encoder is used inside, and the inside of the metal knob is a positioning buckle of light-transmitting material. The official has received feedback from some players and is optimizing and improving the problem that the current version of the knob shakes a bit. In fact, I personally think it is OK. As long as you don’t deliberately shake it hard, the degree of shaking is actually not that big.
The small keyboard as a whole is low in the front and high in the back, with its own inclination angle, and the TYPE-C socket is on the rear edge.
The design of the bottom shell is very careful, the area is not large, but there are many elements.
The upper right corner is a concave receiver storage slot, which adopts a magnetic suction design. It is said that there is a plan to be equipped with a dual-head receiver for compatibility with more different devices, so now it seems that the slot is a bit too large, which is to reserve space.
The following is the hollowed-out brand logo.
By default, it is equipped with Jiadalong G Silver Pro. According to the official consultation, the latest version should be pre-installed with Jiadalong's new wallaby switch. The large key position has been adjusted at the factory, and the hand feel is very consistent. The white positioning board will also have an obvious bonus to the performance of the light.
The gaps on both sides of the space are filled with foam, and the PCB board is compatible with five-pin shafts. KT15 can be transformed into a large shaft tester in minutes.
I originally wanted to take it apart to have a look, but I couldn't find such a fine-sized hexagon socket screwdriver, so I had to give up. I found the official explosion diagram and everyone will take a look. There are a lot of sandwich cotton and sound-absorbing cotton.
When using Bluetooth mode to connect devices, there are two Bluetooth protocols, Bluetooth 3.0 and Bluetooth 5.0, for selection, so that some old models of computers can also be easily compatible.
In fact, there is not much to talk about drivers and macros. At present, you can customize a layer of buttons. The official said that it should be changed to a QMK solution in the future, so that the playability and practicality will be higher. Customize multi-layer macro commands to support different functions. usage scenarios.
At present, the encoders that emit light in the middle of the market seem to be the most common ones in Kaihua. It would be even cooler if the cross-cut pattern of the knob can be changed to a shark fin logo.
The gap between the keycaps is slightly larger than that of ordinary keyboards, and the white positioning plate has a better reflection effect on the light, and the overall lighting effect is quite good.
My own desktop environment is relatively complicated, with many wireless devices and metal products, so I generally like to use extension cables to use the 2.4G wireless receiver close to the wireless devices, so that the wireless stability is better.
The main function of the KT15 keypad as a productivity tool is for players to make some custom settings, such as shortcut keys for multimedia, or shortcut keys for video editing, or shortcut keys for other software operations, etc. If it is changed to the open source QMK solution later, the practicability will be higher. Of course, this texture, this appearance, placed on the table itself is a very good table, and it can also be a large shaft tester. The whole is really good~!
