The shape is compact and does not occupy a lot of space. The experience of Rapoo V700-8A multi-mode wireless backlit gaming mechanical keyboard

Limited by the size of the workstation, many people like to use an 84-key keyboard to save limited space. In terms of volume, the 84-key keyboard can indeed be very compact, bringing more space to the desktop. Therefore, this kind of compact keyboard is not only loved by office workers, but also sought after by many game enthusiasts. What I want to experience today is the V700-8A multi-mode wireless backlit gaming mechanical keyboard from Rapoo, 75% of which are equipped with an 84-key layout. How is it? Let's take a look together.

The classic blue and black color packaging, the front is a rendering of the product, and the back is still an introduction to the point of purchase. The accessories are also very simple, a USB to C port charging cable, a plastic key puller, and a 2.4G wireless receiver. The charging cable is made of plastic, with a length of 1.5 meters and a hard material.

The Rapoo V700-8A multi-mode wireless backlit gaming mechanical keyboard is 75% equipped with an 84-key layout, and the overall design is very compact. The product size is 310.1*120.2*35.5mm, and the keyboard weighs 787 grams. In terms of weight, it still maintains the characteristics that a mechanical keyboard should have. From the front, there are three keycap colors, black, gray and orange, of which orange is only used by ESC.

The design on the back of the keyboard is relatively symmetrical, but unfortunately the switch button is not placed in the middle. There are 4 long strips of rubber feet distributed at the four corners, which are not only thicker but also textured. There are also two feet on the upper part of the back, which can adjust the working angle of the keyboard.

Rapoo V700-8A adopts aluminum alloy frame, sandblasting and oxidation process combined with CNC trimming, which brings a good texture. The overall frame is matched with the black plastic material at the bottom, which seems to have a sense of gap. Fortunately, the bottom is basically invisible. There is a white logo light on the side frame in the lower left corner of the keyboard. The power on remains on, and the standby light is off. The top is the Type-C charging port, and it is not symmetrically placed in the middle, which roughly corresponds to the switch key position at the bottom. It would be great if the switch button can be placed on the top side of the charging port attachment, and there is no need to pick up the keyboard every time the machine is turned on and off.

The Rapoo V700-8A in my hand is the Lonely Brave tea switch version. From the color of the switch body, it can be seen that the Rapoo’s own mechanical switch, two-color injection keycaps, evenly transmit light, and the space bar uses a satellite switch. The official name is Lonely Brave, "Charming Brave, bravely moving forward in the dark, just like the orange in the key shining brightly." This ad is a bit gimmicky.

Rapoo V700-8A supports 4 connection methods (Bluetooth 5.0/3.0/wireless 2.4G/wired) to switch between 5 devices, and the switching method is relatively simple. FN+1, 2, 3, 4, 5 can easily switch, Among them, 4 is the 2.4G connection method, and 5 is the wired connection method. Every time a connection method is switched, the corresponding number button will flash, so it is relatively simple to distinguish, and can quickly switch between different devices.

The lighting of the keyboard can also be switched by FN + right ctrl key and R key, and you can choose your favorite mode. Rapoo V700-8A also supports 84-key programmable, independent programming of the keys through the driver software, and can also upload accessory files to the cloud for sharing. The software side also supports macro editing, lighting, and keyboard parameter settings. For me personally, the probability of using these is relatively low. I usually use the driver software to upgrade the firmware or something, so I won’t introduce more about this.

In terms of configuration, it has a built-in 4000 mAh lithium battery, which can be used while charging, and the official promotion can last for 1 week to 2 months. Judging from the situation of using the keyboard for the past 10 days, there is still power. From the feel, the tea switch really controls the sound very well, which is very convenient for daily office use. In terms of game experience, it still uses my favorite "Rhythm World", the keys rebound lightly, and the game is stress-free.

To sum up, Rapoo V700-8A is a small and portable multi-mode wireless backlit gaming mechanical keyboard, which is very suitable for daily office use, and it is also convenient to play games and relax when you are tired. I think the need for improvement may be the switch button. After all, it is not very convenient to turn off the power at the bottom every time to save power. It would be better to place it next to the charging port, so that you can turn it off without turning the keyboard over.
