iQUNIX always likes to match a variety of design-like colors on the basis of a basic keyboard. For example, the OG80 wormhole with a full sense of technology, or the F97 with various IP keycaps. On the latest F97 and OG80, IQUNIX released a rather simple but quite individual pure black color scheme: Black Samurai.

I am very satisfied with the quality of the F97 series keyboard itself: solid metal casing, full hardware configuration and compact and versatile 96% configuration, but the previous color schemes always feel a bit cute, not suitable for my macho style. And this black warrior has a simple and pure color scheme, and it matches my dark desktop better, so I bought this keyboard

F97, as the continuation of F96, the classic product of the aluminum factory, still maintains the design of 96% arrangement. This arrangement is a highly versatile arrangement with both digital area and compactness, and this arrangement will use 100 pieces. The keycaps fill the entire keyboard area, which is more suitable for displaying the color and pattern of the keycaps.

The subsequent disadvantage is that the positions of the arrow keys and the editing keys have been moved, which requires a certain learning cost in the initial stage. Fortunately, after getting used to it, it was very smooth.

The F97 uses its own traditional four-sided + base plate spliced ​​aluminum shell, although it is more stylish than the aluminum lumps cut out by CNC. But the excellent workmanship brings a sense of delicacy, the edge chamfers are round, the splicing is tight, each chamfer is just right, and the cost is controlled while bringing a good texture

As the new flagship of IQUNIX, F97 provides almost everything that IQUNIX can provide in terms of configuration: Bluetooth 5.1, 2.4G and TYPE-C wired three-mode connection that supports 3 groups of devices are naturally standard configurations. The large 4000mah battery allows the RGB backlight to be turned on and always on in wireless mode.

In terms of the shaft body, the F97 series can choose the two most popular shaft bodies, TTC gold powder and quick silver, and the gold powder is still version 2.0. This is my Kuaiyin switch. I don’t need to say much about the feel of the Kuaiyin switch. The super super smooth feel is unmatched by cherry switches. The feedback is just right from pressing to bottoming out, which makes me very happy. Enjoy tapping. From my personal point of view, Kuaiyin = Gold Powder v2> Gold Powder v1. In terms of applicability, the slightly heavier Kuaiyin is more suitable for games, while the light gold powder is suitable for a large number of code words.

The design of the stabilizer bar can be regarded as the consistent adherence of the IQUNIX brand. Compared with the satellite shaft, it is lighter and smoother. The factory filled grease can also greatly reduce the shaking and noise of the stabilizer bar.

The F97 series uses a double sound-absorbing design of sound-absorbing cotton between the positioning board and the PCB + silicone shock-absorbing pads between the pcb and the bottom case, which eliminates the cavity sound of the keyboard as much as possible, so that the touch and hearing can be obtained when tapping double refreshment.

Keycap selection is compromised

Other colors of F97 are paired with the KDA sublimation ball cap produced by Fingertips. The touch and visual effects of that set of ball caps are excellent. Can greatly improve the input experience. However, in the Black Warrior color scheme, it is not equipped with the same KDA ball cap, but a set of PBT two-color non-ball keycaps. In terms of feel, although this set of keycaps can be regarded as a superior level in non-ball, but compared with the amazing feel of KDA ball caps, the feel of this set of keycaps can only be said to be ordinary. Of course, I think the reason for this is that iqunix’s KDA ball cap cannot produce a two-color effect, and the engraving using dye-sublimation will be lighter, which cannot produce such a high-contrast visual effect.

I chose this keyboard for the unique pure black color scheme, so let’s see how it matches with the desktop

If you choose the RGB backlight version like me, the pure black keyboard with RGB backlight can match the "colorful black" effect

The colored backlight faintly leaking from the gap of the keycap is much more aggressive than pure black.

Another reason why I prefer pure black keyboards is to use white keycaps to match the panda color. It should be noted that the white keycaps are best to choose the same two-color keycaps to maintain a high-contrast black and white effect. I chose cherry original two-color abs keycaps.

F97 is a keyboard with basically no shortcomings in hardware configuration, metal casing, stable and convenient three-mode connection, perfect noise reduction design, popular TTC axis body and smooth and stable large key adjustment, all of which can provide smooth and comfortable keyboard. The 96% configuration and pure black color make the Black Warrior a very personalized keyboard, which may not be liked by everyone, but those who like it will definitely like it very much, especially for IQUNIX to achieve high contrast between black and white would rather forego the ball caps that have performed well in other colorways for the ultimate look. The final effect is really good.

If you also like this simple and plain solid color scheme, F97 Darth Vader will not let you down. But if there are no special requirements for color matching, I still recommend several other color matching, and the tactile improvement brought by the KDA ball cap will be more obvious.
