Too many keyboards and mice Part 7: Red temptation, IQUNIX OG80 happy vending machine evaluation

After the aluminum factory updated the two new products OG80 and F97, relying on a fairly good hardware foundation, the avatar paint factory began to play various tricks on color matching. OG80, I think the current aluminum factory has the best appearance, and even the series that can be ranked among the top few in the entire mass-produced keyboard circle will naturally not be let go.

In addition to the original sci-fi style wormhole, the pure black black warrior and the red and white happy vending machine color scheme were launched later. Black is more than cool, but not new, and there are not many pure red keyboards, so my choice is naturally this OG80 happy vending machine

On the packaging, the aluminum factory already has its own unified design language: the same pure black carton, the waist seal will follow the color matching to make a unique design, just this little change brings a touch of agility to the whole packaging

The inner packaging is strong and reliable, and the layer-by-layer unpacking is quite ceremonial.

In terms of accessories, it is still the old tradition of the aluminum factory, and it is enough to give, especially the extra keycaps are really willing to give

The happy vending machine uses a pure red translucent shell, matched with a white PBT keycap with a bold red engraving, forming a super festive Chinese New Year color scheme of red and white contrast. And this combination of red and white makes people think of Fat House Happy Water and Coca-Cola first. I don’t know if this is the source of inspiration for the name Happy Vending Machine. (Ordinary Coke has a red and white color scheme, while Diet Coke uses a red and black color scheme, which is not happy)

Except for the color change, the rest is the same as the original OG80 wormhole. The keyboard uses 75% of the arrangement, retaining the main keypad and arrow keys, as well as the commonly used editing keys. It is a compact and practical arrangement.

The most recognizable feature of the OG80 series is the two-stage top cover like a certain equipment console, the relatively flat main key area and the F area with a clear inclination, which is good-looking and can give the F area a more comfortable typing angle. Moreover, the upper cover of OG80 is a one-piece design, which is very solid and does not feel loose, and it feels very good in the hand.

The one-piece upper and lower covers are made of frosted translucent watermelon red plastic material with uniform color and good transparency. With suitable desktop lighting, it will present a special texture that can never be achieved by non-transparent materials.

There are also some very delicate detail designs, such as the metal nameplate dotted in the upper right corner, and the retro-style RGB indicator lights in the F area, which add a lot of color to the entire keyboard. The shell texture and design details of the OG80 can be said to be at the ceiling level of plastic materials.

Matching this set of red shells is a set of rather cute bold red engraved keycaps. The keycaps are made of PBT material and sublimation engraved, which can achieve quite complex engraved patterns. The main key area uses bold handwriting, and the function key area has added various underlines and pattern combinations like taking notes to mark the key points. ESC simply uses a classic smiley face, and the design of the whole set of keycaps is quite lovely.

The design of this set of keycaps is well matched with the overall style, and the appearance is indeed passable, but it is a little regrettable that the set of ball caps with a great feel on the F97 is not used.

The choice of the shaft body, the Shanghai Aluminum Factory, has been completely bound to the TTC. You can choose TTC’s hottest gold powder and fast silver shafts. There are also many models of ACE shafts. For students who like nostalgia, the option of cherry shaft is also provided. As an old CHERRY fan, I have completely surrendered to gold powder, so I suggest that unless you have a special preference for the feel of cherry, it is recommended to go directly to gold powder or quick silver. The smooth feel is irresistible. If you like it heavier, choose Kuaiyin, and if you like lighter, choose gold powder. It's as simple as that.

Of course, like many new products of IQUNIX, OG80 still supports full-key hot-swap, providing a lot of DIY space.

The large key is still one of the many special hobbies of the aluminum factory. The balance bar design, but this balance bar has been tuned by the aluminum factory. It is extremely smooth and stable when paired with gold powder v2, even the most jerky key like shift. , There is no aftershock and shaking when the space is taken vigorously, and the stability is quite good.

However, the sound control of the OG80 is relatively general, because the shape of the keyboard determines that the cavity is very large, and there are not many ribs to support the PCB and the chassis, resulting in an obvious cavity sound when hitting hard. Note that Cavity sound is not noise, and the noise control of OG80 is still good.

Another thing to note is that IQUNIX big keys will add quite a lot of grease before leaving the factory, but the grease needs to be used before it can be really lubricated. It is astringent, and the rustling sound is obvious when I press it. After I hit it hard, it becomes the same as other buttons. Most of this is because the grease has not been lubricated.

OG80 supports 3-mode connection, and is equipped with a large 4000mAh battery. The battery life is reassuring. The 2.4G is still quite stable, and the anti-interference performance is relatively good among the keyboards I have used. Bluetooth supports up to 3 groups of connections, and the switching speed is good. The measured Bluetooth switching time is about 3 seconds, and the reconnection after shutdown can be maintained within 2 seconds, which is satisfactory.

Finally, let’s talk about lighting. Like all new IQUNIX products, the OG80 happy vending machine also provides RGB backlit and non-backlit options. For the F97 series, I personally recommend choosing the non-light version, while for the OG80 series, I strongly recommend the backlight Version, because the translucent shell of the OG80 can show the effect of the backlight very well, it is useless to say more, just go to the picture above.

The OG80 series is the aluminum factory keyboard that I personally recommend the most. Although it has lost the soul of the aluminum factory: the metal shell, the excellent texture of the translucent shell and the two-stage retro design are also very popular in the current fiercely competitive keyboard market. unique existence. With excellent hardware quality, it is quite suitable for daily use or collection display. As for the color matching, it depends on everyone's taste. I hope this OG80 happy vending machine can bring more vitality and happiness to the dull summer.
