Unpacking and posting things Part 3: Aluminum Tuotuo is amazing! Keychron Q6 hands-on experience

When I first started coding and writing, Ai Lu didn't have high requirements for the keyboard, and a keyboard with a few broken keys could make do with it. But since the female ticket gave me a wave of consumption upgrades, Ai Lu seems to have opened the door to a new world, and began to be obsessed with keyboards and peripheral products. Bloggers in the digital peripheral circle have paid attention to dozens of them. ~

After arranging a Keychron K6 in the office last time, not only was I happy with it, but it also attracted the attention of many colleagues. After being borrowed to experience it for a few days, colleagues also gave extremely high evaluations, and even provoked them to chop their hands~

However, it is precisely because of the positive feedback my colleagues gave me that it made me pay more attention to the development of Keychron.

In recent months, Keychron's official website has been updated very quickly. Several new keyboards have been launched one after another. The customized Q series has ushered in a wave of blowouts. New products such as Q5, Q6, Q7, and Q8 have been launched one after another.

When I bought the K6 before, Ailu had a good impression of its aluminum alloy frame. With this all-aluminum alloy shell, I have to hurry up and get one to try!

This time Ailu unpacked the 108-key Keychron Q6.

The moment I got the express delivery, I knew it was right~ The full sense of weight made me look forward to it.

What is the most attractive thing about Q6?

There is no doubt that it is all aluminum alloy body. To be honest, I don’t know why people are so obsessed with metal products, but products made of plastic and metal as a substitute are indeed incomparable in texture!

When he opened the box, Ai Lu was amazed by the texture of its shell (yes, the shell was the first thing he noticed). It is said to be a keyboard, but it is actually more like a "work of art". This may be the charm of the all-aluminum body.

The texture of this aluminum alloy shell made of CNC integrated engraving technology, multi-channel polishing, anodizing and sandblasting and other 24 processes is really amazing!

It has a cool touch and a fine frosted surface. It is tightly assembled by several octagonal screws. There will be a clanging sound when knocked. I can play with it all day~

Q6 has a total of three color schemes. In addition to the classic blue and black color scheme, two new color schemes, gray and blue, are also available. Ailu chose the gray model. Compared with the classic blue and black, this model has a brighter tone and a more vibrant color scheme.

With the "light pollution" RGB lighting effect, it can still give people a very cool visual effect.

When the day is bright, the brightness of RGB is still good.

Turning off the light is when the RGB lighting effect shows its true strength~

Keychron's previous K series have always used ABS keycaps, which have been criticized for poor hand feeling, oiling, wear and other issues. So on the Q series, you can experience the pure PBT keycap feel~

The PBT two-color injection keycap used in Q6. The yellow esc key and Enter key, together with two shades of gray keycaps, look very nice together (I also added a zdm cabbage party keycap).

The quality and workmanship of this set of keycaps are very good, the touch is great, and the spout at the bottom is also clean, without burrs, and no additional polishing is required.

The keyboard is compatible with dual systems as always, and two sets of keycaps for Win and MacOS are provided in the box for users to replace, perfectly adapting to different systems.

The volume control knob in the middle of the keyboard is also the "finishing touch" of Q6. It is very eye-catching when placed in the middle. The damping of the knob is very comfortable when turned, and the experience is full~

The switch to switch between Win and Mac is the same as the K series, it is set in the upper left corner of the keyboard.

The side is equipped with a Type-C interface, which can supply power to Q6. It is a pity that Q6 does not support 2.4G or Bluetooth connection, and can only work in single-mode wired mode.

Q6 has three types of shafts to choose from: green shaft, brown shaft, and red shaft. Out of the pursuit of "quiet" and less trigger pressure, Ailu usually chooses the red axis keyboard.

The Keychron Q6 uses the G-Pro shaft body, which feels very good in the hand, very smooth and stable, and the experience of typing code words is superb.

The PCB satellite axis specially made by Jiadalong is also very reliable. The various large keys are very stable, and they do not shake when they are tapped, and they still maintain the same "mute effect" as other keys. There are not many large keys on the keyboard that have been criticized. "Wire tone".

With the sandwich cotton and the mute cotton sheet at the bottom of the fuselage, it can achieve a better noise reduction effect, and there is no cavity sound at all~ It is no problem to use it in an office environment, and the extreme silence will hardly affect the colleague.

When flipping it over, I found that the keyboard has no foot support design, which means that the Q5 can only be used at a fixed angle.

Although after using it for a period of time, I feel that the overall angle is acceptable, and matching the palm rest is not very "handsome", but for Ai Lu who is used to opening the keyboard feet to raise the keyboard, it will still be a little annoying.

▼In terms of angle, without the foot support, it will indeed be slightly smaller than the Leo that Ailu is used to.

Since it is a fully customized keyboard, Q6 naturally also supports the hot-swap function. Whenever you get tired of using the red switch, you can replace the switch body at any time.

For keyboards that support hot-swapping, it is very simple to replace the shaft body - just use the shaft puller in the accessory to pull out the shaft body, and then press the new shaft body to replace the shaft body, which is very convenient.

In addition to the shaft puller, tools such as screwdrivers are also provided in the accessories, so that we can freely play with this customized keyboard.

Ai Lu also experienced unpacking for the first time on a whim... However, due to hand damage, he only removed the back cover for fear of damage.

When you disassemble the bottom case, you can see the silent cotton sheet at the bottom. The PCB board in the middle, the sandwich cotton and the positioning plate are fixed together by screws. The assembly and disassembly seem to be very easy, and it supports free replacement of parts. .

▼Schematic diagram of the internal structure of Q6

In addition, when you disassemble the keyboard, you can feel the "middle suspended fixed structure" adopted by Q6. Compared with the traditional circuit board design, Q6 adds spacers around the circuit board to raise the entire circuit board, allowing the middle part to be suspended, improving the The bullet space can reach up to 2.5mm.

When pressing the keyboard hard, you can feel that the entire keyboard has a slight "sinking" effect. But in fact, we don’t press so hard in our daily use, so the feedback of this “elasticity” effect is not so obvious.

Finally, for players who are willing to toss around, Keychron Q6 also provides QMK and VIA open source support, you can program the keys according to your own needs and ideas, including keyboard layout, shortcut keys, key combinations, and even backlight effects. do it~

After using Q6 for a period of time, I suddenly felt that other keyboards were not as good... so that although the workstations in the new office area were smaller than before, I still moved Q6 out of the freshness of the new keyboard. Yes, the original K6 was also put into the drawer by me, and I deeply experienced the feeling of going from extravagance to frugality.

Well, this is the end of this review. If it is helpful to your purchase, please don’t be stingy with your one-click three-link, give me a thumbs up~
