Of course. It depends on what you do. Regular mouse for regular use. I prefer Dell. Magic mouse 2 for Macs. Gaming mouse (eg. Razer) for gaming

I would get a wired laser mouse for best reliability and performance. Ball mice are not good as they are slow and need cleaning. Get wired because wireless mice can have issues with cordless phones and stop working or studder.

These types of things are made to be safe for legal reasons. You would certainly not want to stick any optical mouse up to your eye and stare at it for prolonged periods of time. But you would need to do this for quite awhile to cause damage to your eye. As long as no one has tied you up, held your eyes open, and slapped an optical mouse on your eye (that always stay illuminated), you should be fine. You run a bigger risk of blinding yourself by throwing the mouse at your eye than you do glancing at the light emitter

You could buy something really cheap for 10 or 15 dollars at Staples if you do not mind having a hardwired mouse. A wireless mouse wil be about 25 to 45 dollars, depending what model you want. There are also bluetooth wireless mice but they are the most expensive, coming in at approximately 50 dollars or more. For just a basic mouse, go to staples and pick up a cheap 15 or 20 dollar mouse

Almost certainly a hardware error. If it is a cheap mouse then that is not unexpected. The only other option might be if you have an overloaded unpowered usb hub or something like that. Plug the mouse directly into the computer and see if the problem persists. If it does then make sure that your mousepad is adequate for tracking. If it is then get a new mouse

Usually this is done at high-volume installations (think, attaching and powering on a whole rack of servers at once) to automate installations. There is a wonderful tutorial which explains the details, but essentially you will need to ensure the network interface on the server is configured to pick up DHCP information and boot via PXE before the system is ready to perform the installation. There are a lot of other things which have to be configured on the network for this to work properly. Again, this is usually done on high-volume networks where this infrastructure is already in place specifically for this purpose.Also note that you will need all of the answers to the questions the installer asks in advance. This is not a process where the server loads the installer and you can SSH in to go through the usual interactive installation process. It's a fully unattended install (i. e. plug in the network, power on, and the server boots via PXE, mounts the installer and seeds itself with the answers needed to run an unattended install).If it's just one server, I would find a monitor, keyboard and mouse unless you are doing it for the experience. Once the initial install is finished, you can disconnect all of that and use it entirely over the network (assuming, as David mentioned, your system does not get upset if a keyboard is not connected upon reboot; you can usually disable those warnings in the BIOS).
