Take the ball out by twisting the cover underneath counter clock wise drop the ball out pull the dust off. Best option is to get an Optical Mouse they are cheap now.

With Logitech mouses I have always had good results. Avoid cheap mouses...you spare few bucks but they are uncomfortable and break fast. Been there, done that
