PTIJ: Forbidden to use a computer mouse? What are good alternatives? [closed]
I do not know the exact halacha, but when I was studying privately with a local Chareidi rabbi recently I saw that he double-wrapped his mouse in plastic. He said it was like double-wrapping food if you need to cook in a non-kosher oven or double-wrapping the siddur in your backpack when you need to enter a restroom and can not leave it outside. It looked like the mouse did not work so well when wrapped, but he was having trouble using his computer anyway because he double-wrapped his monitor to stay separate from the impure thoughts that come from the Internet, so I assume he uses his computer only for emergencies. I suggested he look into tablets with screen protectors, though I do not know if a double layer impedes the touch interface

my computer mouse has become unresponsive?
If your mouse has a USB attachment, then it is probably one of those that has the roller ball underneath it. Unscrew the 2-3 screws and take the roller ball out and wipe it down, give the mouse a little shake to remove any little debris or dust that might have gotten in and put the roller ball back in and screw the plate back on. If this does not fix the problem, then you will probably have to get a new mouse (they are SO cheap) since the connection is probably bad, wires could be lose. Good Luck! I have had this happen to me and I switched to a wireless mouse which I just love, would never go back to a USB mouse again! :)

My computer mouse isn't working...?
When on the login screen all settings are turned off and mouse, sound, video, are all set to default. If your mouse works on the login screen it means that it is not a problem with your mouse but instead a problem with one of your computer settings. If its a laptop make sure that your default settings are set to the external mouse and not the track pad. If your on a desktop navigate to your control panel and and go under mouse. Make sure that the external device is set as the default. If you are using a wireless mouse make sure that under the external hardware section the mouse is registering. If its not coming up try unplugging, then plugging the receiver back in. If that does not work make sure that the battery's have enough power. Hope that helps, Sparkeyy
