Stay mouse

The nautical term "stay mouse" refers to an antiquated part of a sailing vessel's standing rigging. On all sailing ships built before about the 19th century, the stays were of natural cords. These lines were looped around the top of each section of the wooden masts using a spliced loop or seized loop in their ends. During the 16th century some riggers began to attach stays by splicing or seizing only a small loop into the end of the stay then passing the rope's tail around the mast and back through the small loop, like a slip-knot. To prevent this from slipping tightly around the mast when in use, a strong bulge was built into the standing part of the rope that could not fit through the small loop. This bulge was called a mouse or stay mouse. As first galvanised and then stainless steel standing rigging replaced natural fibres, and steel and aluminium replaced wood for masts, the need for these niceties died out. Knowledge of, and interest in, these technologies is kept alive by classic boat and historic ship enthusiasts, as well as by model makers the world over.

Pygmy mouse lemur

The pygmy mouse lemur (Microcebus myoxinus), also known as Peters' mouse lemur or dormouse lemur, is a primate weighing only 43-55 g (1.5-1.9 oz); it is the second smallest of the mouse lemurs. Its dorsal side is a rufous-brown colour, and creamy-white ventrally. It lives in dry deciduous forests. The pygmy mouse lemur measures around 12-13 cm (4.7-5.1 in) (head-body length). Its small size and nocturnal nature made it difficult to locate for over a century, and was rediscovered in the Kirindy forest in western Madagascar in 1993. They are believed to inhabit other parts of the island, but so far have only been discovered in a localized area. The lemur rests during the day, and it has a tendency to sleep in the open, which increases the risk of predation; although this danger is somewhat mitigated by sleeping alone. It can also use the abandoned nests of the Coquerel's giant mouse lemur (Mirza coquereli). During the mating season, sleeping sites of males are distributed over a much broader area than are female sites, indicating that male home ranges are larger than those of females. The home ranges of males overlap during the mating season, and males occasionally roam over long distances during a single night

THERE'S A MOUSE IN MY HOUSE, NEED HELP ASAP!!!!!!!!?

keep an eye on them if you can. do not get to close to them. you can get a cardboard box if you have one, and lure the mice in with cheese or peanut butter, something the mice wiill eat. (you can look it up online) prehaps create a barrier of some sort so if the mice do get out of the cupboards they can not run far. do not kill the mouse. (well you can but kiling mice is not needed)(although sometimes you have to); be resoursefull and safe. you can wait for your mom to come home, but do not loose the mice.

How to catch a mouse ALIVE!!!?

I agree with fishy. Get a plastic bucket that you would use to wash windows or walls with (you can get one at Walmart or the dollar store for next to nothing) defiantly use peanut butter, baring no one in your house is allergic to it. Set up books and/or cardboard to make a ramp making sure its tall enough so bucket stands upright and the mouse can not get out get out. Other wise if you go with something that sits on its side you have to hope you can get the container up right before the mouse can run out. This way just about can not fail. Just make sure you have any and all food sources put up in areas that the mouse can not get to. Good Luck
