My mighty mouse isn't working?

if the mac picks it up that you can move the scroll its a problem with the laser you might want to try placing the mouse on a mouse pad, laser mice dont really work on glass or other similar surfaces. If that does not work its a problem with the laser on the mouse and i might want to go back and have it exchanged. Because if the Mac detects it and you can use one function of it this means its working.

keep an eye on them if you can. do not get to close to them. you can get a cardboard box if you have one, and lure the mice in with cheese or peanut butter, something the mice wiill eat. (you can look it up online) prehaps create a barrier of some sort so if the mice do get out of the cupboards they can not run far. do not kill the mouse. (well you can but kiling mice is not needed)(although sometimes you have to); be resoursefull and safe. you can wait for your mom to come home, but do not loose the mice.

How do I get a mouse out of my house?

You could try closing off the area, then flushing the mouse out of its hiding place with a stick. Then you could try and catch it with a plastic container. If its a baby, then it might come to your hand if you offer it bread or cheese in a calm manner. One time I made a have-a-heart mousetrap with a large plastic storage container and some cardboard. I put a nice, stable ramp going up to the top of the open side of the container, then I put another sort of 'catwalk' going from the ramp to the middle of the container. I put a piece of cheese at the end of the catwalk, and, in theory, the mouse would climb up the ramp, across the catwalk, and try to get the piece of cheese. Then the weight of the mouse would push the catwalk down and make the mouse fall into the box. I made the cardboard catwalk have a sort of fold in it to make it spring back up once he mouse fell down. I only had it up for a few days, and nothing happened, but perhaps with a little modification and patience you could trap the mouse and release it back where it came from. :-)

If its a usb mouse(most probably it is) insert it into any usb port, if not insert into the ps2 port(probaly the green color port). XP identifies the mouse as plug and play so you dont have to do anything else

You have to be a bit wary. You are a good person about worrying about an injured house mouse. The only problem is if you are able to save, what will you do once it is better? This is what I suggest, if you a small clear plastic bin that is very like like 30 inches high put the mouse in that with some toilet paper and a small box for her to hide in. You can use worker gloves to scoop her up with so you wont get bitten. If there are any open wounds on it, boil up some thyme or rosemary . let it steep for 2 minutes. Both rosemary and thyme can be used as disinfect its wounds. But it sounds she has a broken limb. Make sure its not too hot either. Put a few drops on the opened wound. If the mouse is bleeding badly, brew up some black tea. Use the tea bag on the wound, it should help stop the bleeding. Feed her dry bread dipped in soy or plain almond milk. Chop up some cumber for it to nibble on for water. I would be a bit wary of putting a small bowl of water in the bin with the mouse. It could tip it over. The cucumber holds a lot of water in it. Hopefully within a week or two her leg will begin to heal, if starts to swell do not worry. Swelling means its healing.
