There are several things which could be broken. The USB port, the USB dongle, the wireless mouse itself. Ensure that the "new" batteries work in another device. Also ensure that in the problem mouse, the batteries are pointed in the right direction, so that plus matches with plus. Some wireless mice operate on frequencies that are easily blocked. Try putting the mouse very close to the USB dongle and see if its movements are received.There may be a mating procedure for the mouse and USB dongle. You will need to find the precise make/model to figure this out. Open Device Manager. Expand the "Mice and other pointing devices" section. Plug in the wired mouse. The list should add an entry. Try unplugging the USB dongle. The list should remove an entry. It's possible for individual USB ports to work with some devices but not with others, so trying switching them around until all the USB devices are recognized. Rebooting may help. If the wired mouse shows up in every port, but the USB dongle does not, then the USB dongle is broken and you must buy another.

Most people are concerned about their processor and motherboard. First, if the mouse got in then the cats are going to find it. Doubtful that it will have an adverse effect on the cats. I do hope you took it away from them and got rid of it outside, do not put it in a garbage can in the house, they will tear the can up to get it. As for how it got in, if you've not seen any signs of rodents before, then it is likely that it was just an unlucky mouse that found some way to get in

I know you said you do not want to use a tank but you should. Cages can cause the mouse to escape, have bloody noses, and it can irritate there fur if they rub against it. A tank you can assure they wont escape or get hurt.

With the blue LED on the scrollwheel, I assume its laser. Try blow into the little hole where the laser is, to get rid of something that might be causing your laser to react on (a hair, dust etc.). Ive had the same problem with an earlier mouse. You might also wanna try reinstall or get the latest drivers for the mouse, if blowing into the laser-hole wont work.

The Blue Mouse Theatre opened in Portland was at 1032 SW Washington Street. The location was originally opened as a Globe Theater in 1912, before being taken over and completely remodeled in 1921 by John Hamrick It used a wurlitzer organ shipped from the factory in 1922. Harry Quinn Mills was organist at the Blue Mouse in 1922 and Dubois Cornish was organist in 1927. According to Balcom & Vaughan records, the organ was last used for silent films in March 1928. The theater hosted the first sound picture in Portland in 1926: John Barrymore in Don Juan. USB or PS/2? Have you many any recent changes or BIOS updates? What OS? Can you access your CMOS setup when it first boots or does it give you a keyboard failure? or is it only in the OS that you can not use the keyboard or mouse. Edit: So you are saying that the USB ports do not work in any way shape or form for anything? Can you access the system BIOS with your keyboard, I am not sure if you answered this. If you ARE able to access the BIOS (try using a PS/2 keyboard also if the machine has PS/2 ports) but not use any USB in Windows, perhaps a configuration problem. Please provide a response for further info.

Huggies have soap and creams on them and that's what is on your keyboard. You need to clean it with something that evaporates without leaving a trace. Get a soft cloth (like an old tee shirt) and put some rubbing alcohol on it. Just a little, enough to make it damp but not dripping. Use this to wipe up the Huggies residue. If it gets too dry, add a little, but you do not want the alcohol to run down below the keyboard into your computer. Of course, you do this when the computer is off, and, after you finish, wait 5-10 minutes before you start it just to be sure any alcohol that may have gotten inside has a chance to evaporate. You need to remove the laptop's battery before the water inside the laptop does permanent damage (if it has not done it already)! The water is shorting out parts of the electrical system. It may be possible to open up the keyboard and dry off the water by leaving the laptop upside down in a warm place for several days

I would start with any apps or utilities that might intercept USB devices. I once had a forgotten keyboard tool that was used to alter mapping of command and option keys that was not compatible with a system update and caused a similar problem. USB Overdrive? Keyboard macros? Virtual machine apps? Any similar things could be capturing the USB input from the keyboard and failing to pass to the OS.
