Keyboard layout
Note the mnemonics associating an APL character with a letter: ? (question mark) on Q, (power) on P, (rho) on R, (base value) on B, (eNcode) on N, (modulus) on M and so on. This makes it easier for an English-language speaker to type APL on a non-APL keyboard, providing one has visual feedback on one's screen. Also, decals have been produced for attachment to standard keyboards, either on the front of the keys or on the top of them. Later IBM terminals, notably the IBM 3270 display stations, had an alternate keyboard arrangement which is the basis for some of the modern APL keyboard layouts in use today. Further APL characters were available by overstriking one character with another. For example, the log symbol () was formed by overstriking ShiftP with ShiftO. This extended the graphic abilities of the earlier teleprinters, but made it more complex to correct errors and edit program lines. New overstrikes were introduced by vendors as they produced versions of APL tailored to specific hardware, system features, file systems, and so on. Further, printing terminals and early APL cathode-ray terminals were able to display arbitrary overstrikes, but as personal computers rapidly replaced terminals as a data-entry device, APL character support became provided as an APL Character Generator ROM or a soft character set rendered by the display device. With the advent of the modern PC, APL characters were defined in specific fonts, eliminating the distinction between overstruck characters and standard characters. Finally, the symbols were ratified in Unicode and given specific code points, with unambiguous interpretations, independently of the graphic font.

How can I clean my sticky keyboard?
You can try Cyber putty which is fairly good, but if its a spillage you may need to "wash" your keyboard. Sounds daunting, but its not too hard. Unplug the keyboard, take it apart carefully and remove the top half (which has the keys). The lower half should have the membrane that controls the keyboard. If this has juice on it you can wipe it carefully. The top half with the keys can (normally) be fully immersed as it does not contain any electronic parts so can be washed safely Make sure it is fully dry before reassembling the pieces, I would recommend 24hrs of dry time. If you have an airing cupboard put it in there. Good luck.

Model F keyboard
The Model F was a series of computer keyboards produced from 1981-1994 by IBM and later Lexmark. Its mechanical-key design consisted of a buckling spring over a capacitive PCB, similarly to the later Model M keyboard that used a membrane in place of the PCB. The Model F first appeared with the IBM System/23 Datamaster all-in-one computer. It is best known as part of the IBM Personal Computer in 1981 with some keycap label differences, and its subsequent release with the IBM Personal Computer/AT, where it was reconfigured with the AT protocol and some layout revisions. The capacitive design is widely considered superior to that of the later membrane design used on the Model M. It has a lighter actuation force of about 600 mN, a crisper feel and louder feedback, and is more robust. It also has a higher MTBF of over 100 million keypresses, and full n-key rollover.

how do u get crayon off of keyboard ?help!! ASAP?
Geez - do not spazz about it - it's just crayon, for crying out loud! It will rub right off!! DON'T use any solvents or cleaners (or anything liquid, period!) on the keyboard! Take a washcloth and wipe it gently, or use your finger as far as that goes - it's not an emergency, nor will it affect the function of the keyboard, so calm down before you ruin it
